Introduction
This article discusses the options available to users when backing up their account data. It also provides data retention guidelines and long-term storage options for accounts.
Our Platforms enforce rules for managing account data storage for optimal system performance and reliability.
General account data retention guidelines
IMPORTANT:
If a user extension is deleted from the account, any call recordings or messages associated with this user will also be permanently deleted and can not be recovered.

Text Messages (SMS/MMS) | Minimum Storage Duration: 30 days | 5,000 messages per folder, per user (Inbox, Outbox, Sent, Deleted) |
What is a Minimum Storage Duration?
The minimum storage duration refers to the minimum amount of time we will ensure that your data is active and visible on our systems.
Since our Platform supports many customers, from time to time to ensure stability and performance overall, data that has passed beyond the minimum Storage Duration for retention may be deleted. Otherwise, we will continue to provide active storage.
The deletion process is fully automated and takes into consideration how much data we are storing on your account already, the type of data, as well as the resource burden required to store that data.
This ensures that we create a fair balance when the time comes to perform a data culling. For instance, call recordings use up a lot more storage space than a call detail record. So when our systems need to free up resources, they may select to remove some call recordings while retaining the call detail records.
Options for Long-Term Storage
Customers have options for downloading their data for their own use and storage. There are two primary options:
API
Customers are able to use our APIs to download Call Details Records and Call Recordings from the system. Information on how to access our APIs can be found in this Knowledgebase. Customers that wish to use our professional services to engineer a custom solution should contact their account manager for details, otherwise, you are free to explore the API and develop against it.
Managed Storage Plan
Managed Storage Plans are a custom-built solution that will “off-load” your data to one or more storage endpoints such as an FTP server or Amazon AWS S3 bucket. Managed Storage Plans require a professional services engagement to configure and set up. Additionally, service fees may apply. If you are interested in getting more information about our Managed Storage Plans, contact your account manager for details.
